  • JPEGmini: Drastically Reduces the File Size of Your Images on the Web, on a Mac and Using Windows [+ Win a License]

    jpegmini-windows-startpage-w550

It’s been one and a half years since ICVT, a startup from Israel, surprised us with the inception of a web service able to reduce uploaded JPG images to one fifth of their original size. Most remarkably, the pictures don’t lose quality visibly. The larger the original file is, the higher the achievable reduction result. For months the service had only been available as a web app, then a Mac app was started. Two days ago, ICVT launched the long-awaited app for Windows users. We show you what JPEGmini is all about and have five licenses for the Windows and Mac versions to give away…

  • Enhance Your Photography: 10 Simple Steps to Mastering Composition

"Light is Life" by Ian Plant

What makes a great photograph? Is there any one aspect of the process which separates the merely good from the truly magnificent? • Photo Pin Lets You Use Flickr Images Easily, Cares For Licences

    photopin-homepage-w640-w550

We all need images more often than not. Be it to illustrate that new recipe in your favorite cooking forum or be it to have that blog post look more interesting. It is not exactly difficult to find images around the webs. But there are strings attached. If you are not aiming solely for pictures in the Public Domain (the platform Pixabay is for you, if you do), you will always be confronted with having to care for the licensing. Specialized platforms, such as Fotolia, try to make that task as easy as possible. They tell you explicitly, under which licence you can use any given image from inside their service and how you would have to attribute it. • Street Art In Thailand: Chiang Mai Graffiti

The meaning of a street artist’s work comes not only from its content, but also the laws, politics and religion, both official and unofficial, that govern the region. In Chiang Mai, in Thailand, street art is not necessarily illegal – the streets are filled with trash, good luck symbols and homemade signs – but many natives will tell you it is a form of expression that has no connection whatsoever with their country. They claim the few working artists are either westerners or Thais – mostly students – obsessed with western culture. But…
