Useful PSD Files For Your Creativity

March 2nd, 2011

PSD files can be used to create beautiful, stunning, vibrant and very creative business cards, icons, characters, website layouts, photo manipulations and much more. With Adobe Photoshop’s convenient interface, even newbies can understand how to work with some of the basic tools and options that this fantastic program has to offer. Here are 40 PSDs you may find useful for any ongoing projects you may have at the moment.

Please note that all of these files listed below are free of charge, however not all of them are available to be used for both commercial as well as personal use. That’s why we strongly recommend you to check the additional information that the artists provide along with their freebie. In case there isn’t such information, be sure to contact the creators and ask for their permission to avoid any copyright infringement. Thank you.

These are really good PSD’s, a thousand thanks. But something bothers me. Are these tons of freebies making us web designers any good, in terms of creativity? I mean, how creative can you be when you just grab these and roll with it as if it where your creation? Just saying!

I think part of the idea is to take something, redesign or improve it and make it your own. The idea that there is truly nothing new under the sun, just our own adaptions of what we see.

You cannot learn without a teacher or someone who is gone before. Now if all you do is copy then you can’t really call yourself a designer.

Umm, you can’t just take the NFL logo and slap it on something. I have worked with them in licensing and they have restrictions as to how and even IF you can use their logo. You have to get approved by them as a licensee first. Then they provide you with the appropriate logo.

I think freebies are great for designers. I get a lot of my inspiration from free designs.

Using them as templates and reconstructing them to my own creation.

Sometimes you have to just think, “why reinvent the wheel?”

    GREAT PSD’s!!! I love it.

Working as a freelance graphic artist is so much better than being employed.

I do all my work from home on as they seem to have the fairest payment.

As a website developer & graphic you can also earn money by developing websites, programs for androids and ipads.

You’ve got great talent man. Love it.

You got very interesting debate started on your post and its worth a lot of feedback. Very less people are able to talk so well about this issue. A big thumbs up from me.

Something I do for creativity is… first try on your own, then see some designs, take inspiration, and then design again, but without keeping any ‘reference’ in front. This way, the design themes and techniques which were ‘stuck-in’ will come out with your own perspective and possible something genuine. Plus, a designer also has to keep up to a deadline, we always do not have forever to invent.
