CMS systems are very tricky to Overclock ! Sometimes too much of this stuff can cause the opposite effect. The best thing to do is to start with the basics such as Gzip from the server side and than build on to it. If you are using a Rockettheme they have alot of great encoding plugins to help boast performance.
