Lasting Impressions: Unusual Business Cards That Will Definitely Be Kept
As a designer creating a good business card for yourself can be quite task. The need for a visually appealing business card design is greater than in other work fields. There are 2 steps to giving a business card, not only as a designer, but as a business individual in general. The first step, and most important is ensuring the business card is kept. The second step is, of course, getting the project.
Sharing a great looking business card with a partner can often make the difference between getting the job or not. Not to mention that most, let's say ordinary business cards end up in the trash after awhile. An unusually creative card made out of metal, plastic or rubber can ensure you a permanent slot in that ever-growing pile of business cards of your potential business partners.
There is a growing trend of digitizing business cards through card scanners. Though there are some advantages to having the cards scanned such as the space gained and ease of search, the lasting impression of receiving an appealing and unusually creative business card cannot be matched.
Feeling the unusual shape, the embossed metal or letterpressed paper will certainly help gain you the appreciation and respect needed to start or cement a good business partnership. So take a look at the showcase we have prepared of unusual business cards.
Lasting Impressions

Some ideas here are really crazy and amazing! Thanks for sharing such great and inspering collection.
Ok, the designs are unique and great, no one can argue. The question I have yet to find the answer to is who produces these? So far, I can find no one who does except the plastic card. Any help would be great!
George, there are quite a few companies that actually make metal business cards, and most are capable of creating high-end cards. All you have to do is do a basic Google search for “metal business cards” and you will find companies such as Plasma design (http://www.plasmadesign.co.uk/metal-business-cards/) or Metal Cards (http://metalcards.com/) . These are only 2, and the prices are pretty good considering …
Very cool usage of some die cuts and print materials. The legos are ingenius.
But I do feel the clear plastic, mylar or acetone are a little played. There has to be 20+ versions in the this blog post alone, and they are all similar. I just checked my desk drawer and have clear 9 cards from contacts.
Answering to George and Alex, the cards we show or are shown on other blogs are entirely done by us and 100% in-house. You are more than welcome to swing by our website (www.btypedesign.com) and see if you like something. Drop us a line if you do!
Cheers.
Some great inspiration here. Thanks for the post!
new n inspiring indeed!
Very inspiring post.
Those are some cool business cards.
Nothing here thats really beautifully designed. They remind me of this quote from Jonathan Ive – “it’s very easy to be different, but very difficult to be better.”
Love the dog tag and lego ones! Those are definitely memorable business cards!
This is quite brilliant. But which agencies make such business cards? I mean surely you don’t just go to a printer and tell them, “boss I want my card to look like a usb drive.”
Collection is quite nice but some of them, well, you certainly cannot carry in your wallets. :P
It’s probably an actual usb stick they made themselves… but instead of a company logo on it, they made a business card of it ;)
I love the idea of thinking outside of the box! And they say business cards are a thing of the past. Here is a great implication that is far from the truth!
They are different from normal business cards, but they looks supercool :-)
Amazing business cards…simply coool…
I wonder about the practical part on some cards. Some, I can’t even call ‘business cards’ at all… How are you supposed to put them in your wallet?
Some of these are just cool/gimmicky for no deeper reason… which is fine, but isn’t very memorable. few were the ones that connected fun gimmick with the person’s occupation to create a new layer of information . Like the yoga one and the photographer one…
