Japanese Ball-Jointed Doll Still Life Photography
With all of the inspiring still life photography that can be found on the web, you can find some truly amazing niches within this artform. Some that combine not only the art and skill of the photographer, but also include some stunning designs or artistry from other genres and fields to really complete the picture. Pardon the pun. Today’s post shines the spotlight on one of these niches that produce some breathtaking works.
Still life photography featuring Japanese ball-jointed dolls is that niche. It’s quite an interesting subculture since those who create usually don’t just create the dolls and/or photos, but also create entire characters with rich back stories surrounding each doll. Since these dolls are highly poseable, many of the shots appear to be very realistic, candid shots. We hope you find them as inspiring as we do.

Hell yes
I know a few people who collect these dolls and take amazing pictures of them as well. I admit they’re pretty scary at times, but you gotta admire how they are able to work it.
see I do this with MY doll and people call me a freak. these people do it and they get featured on a big site. I don’t get it :P
These are not Japanese but Korean’s – from D.O.D. http://www.dreamofdoll.com/eng/main/mapage.asp
shock the mess out of me. but its so cool! i would buy these dolls if i didn’t think they were going to kill me in my sleep.
muy buenos YO QUIERO UNO JEJEJE
Actually this style of doll is made in many different parts of Asia, and a few are made in other countries. The realistic look is part of the basis of the appeal. I think they’re very beautiful.
they sell in japan big time but they are korean dolls. (their included id cards show their nationallity : Korean)
No, they are not. They where actually invented by a Japanese company (Super Dollfie), but have gotten popular in other countries too. You may have some Korean dolls but there is ones of other nationalites too. They actually resemble alot Japanese anime/manga (who has also became popular in other contries, some of them with writters from there).
I love to see Korean dolls but you can’t change the place where things has been created. It’s like Kimchi, I would hate people saying it was not Korean when it actually is. The same goes for Japan and sushi.
Yup; definitely not all Japanese! There are Japanese, Korean, and probably a few Chinese dolls featured here. I love Asian ball-jointed dolls <3 They can look a little creepy sometimes, I suppose, but they're really beautiful!
I love BJDs! cant seem to afford one though so i content myself with looking up pictures and sites. love your dolls!
i want a BJD so badly, but they are so expensive! seeing these photos makes me want one of my own even more..
