Adobe AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) is a free runtime environment that can be used by the developers to develop highly interactive internet and media applications for multiple platforms. It enables web developers to utilize their current development skills and deliver rich applications and content to user’s desktop. It combines the web development technologies like Ajax, HTML, Flash and Flex so that developers with existing knowledge of these technologies need not learn a new framework and they can utilize Adobe AIR integrated platform to deploy extremely sophisticated internet applications.

        Awful UIs seems to be a stable of AIR apps. Most apps in this list are pretty ridiculous. I’ve yet to see any really solid, truly useful AIR apps.

        I think if you “have yet to see any really solid, truly useful Air apps” then you have been limited on what you’ve seen. While this article was well done, it just highlights a few apps. There are tons more Air apps available. I’ve collected 330 at my site,
        http://www.windyapps.com and still have a long way to go. I’d also like to invite any developers to submit their Air app to Windyapps. It’s free.

    Very useful list, thanks a lot. I’m immediately onto Doc?, Kuler, Klock and WebKut.

    I personally find the Finetune Desktop App one of the first, and also the best among the AIR apps. It’s lightweight and very simple.
