A good technique does not prevent such a bad taste for some of them (Ocean of secrets by foureyes, Fire and Ice by Emerald-Depths, etc…). Of course, that’s my personal opinion.

As someone who could only dream of being able to make some of these I have to agree about the final results. Some of them are way too over done, Less is more is always the way to go as it just seem more effective. I really like “Motorcycle”, “Witness the Sorrow”, “Silence”, “Monarch”, “Into the Sky” and “Twins Pears House”(Going against what im saying, but still think it looks really cool.)

Awesome post but feel you might have omitted a couple

These are all pretty interesting images but i think only about 20 of them can really be considered photo manipulations. The rest are more illustration. Girl in the shell; the lizard; eye with butterfly; smoke on the water and spring eye are really well done. I think what differentiates a photo manipulation from illustration is a “wait, huh, is that real?” quality.

its awesome the effects are just too good
ravi, 27 August 2010
IMHO i feel some of them are not that good, and the quality of the post have gone down i guess. Noupe was so cool some time ago :(

Very interesting and artful, but I would classify many them as illustration/art rather than photo manipulations.
