If it isn’t already clear from the name itself, Haunted House is a theme with a Halloween setting. Basically, it is a simple black theme with a funky font for heading.

WarmWinter is yet another simple theme, built with personal blogs in mind. The design has touches of a tree-like appearance, though the theme itself is pretty simple and nothing out of the ordinary.

blogBox is a full-featured theme that comes with a homepage slider, 11 background colors and 13 text colors, 4 predefined skins and support for in-built captcha. The theme also integrates Google Web Fonts.

Herakles is a free WordPress theme created by Joolu Themes. It comes with three homepage layouts and extensive documentation.

Lexiity is a “Coming Soon” or landing page theme. Left is a theme meant for portfolio and showcase websites. Oh, and before I forget: the theme likes the left side more than the right one!

Caja is yet another portfolio theme meant for showcasing your work online. It is translation ready (and also comes with the Spanish language-pack included, alongside English). The theme also provides custom post types, 6 color skins, 6 page templates, Google Web Fonts, Skills Manager (to showcase and rate your skills), in-built contact form and over 40 background patterns.

    Yeah this list actually looks REALLY out of date and the layouts are very simplistic and also blotchy. Not a fan of this list but thanks for taking the time.

      The list looks out of date? Can you please clarify? I took great care to ensure that these themes are from October itself.
      Also, as with any collection, this will also be a mixed bag: some themes you’ll like, other you may not. :)

        It’s just from a design perspective. These themes are extremely bare and lack any attention to detail. They basically look like starter themes that are for layout purposes only. By “outdated,” I think that Travis means that these look like something that was designed a few years ago.
        Yea, no slam to you. Thanks for the time to put the list together…just putting in 2cents.
