Top 20 Greasemonkey Scripts to Boost Your Google Experience

Greasemonkey Firefox extension adds a bit of Javascript to certain web pages and runs it every time you visit, to change the functionality and appearance of those pages.

There are thousands of scripts that you can install to customize just about anything you can think of. However, there are a few scripts that are quite useful and popular that you should consider using if you’re not already doing so!

So Today, we’ve brought together the top 20 Google related Greasemonkey scripts to enhance your Gmail, Google Reader and Google search experience.

If you are a Greasemonkey newbies, you need to do the following:

  • First you need to install the Greasemonkey Firefox extension.
  • To use a certain script, you need to go to the script page and click on the “Install this script” button if the script is on the UserScripts website. Otherwise just right-click on the link and choose “Install User Script” from the context menu.
  • Reload the page to see the script in action.

I know I must have missed tons of Google Greasemonkey scripts. Please share your favorite Greasemonkey scripts in the comments.

  1. The ‘Google 100’ script is kind of obsolete for a few reasons. It doesn’t affect searches from FF toolbar search, and you can control your search result preferences via your Google account.

  2. My favorite GreaseMonkey scripts are Block Facebook Ads, New Facebook Layout Ad Killer, Digg Adblocker, Disable Text Ads, Flickr Ad Killer, ‘The New Facebook is here’ promo bar remover, and TwitPic.

  3. This is all great. There are 2 features I’d like to request though. I’ve looked everywhere and I cannot find a way to do either.

1 Automatically have unread emails rise to the top.

2 Be able to customize the color, font size, and font type for unread mail to further contrast with the appearance of read mail.

It is just too darn easy to miss unread mail!

  4. Larry King once wisely uttered, “I remind myself every morning: Nothing I say this day will teach me anything. So if I’m going to learn, I must do it by listening.” That is exactly how I feel. I am grateful to have learned something new today. – Tenis

  5. I know I’m a dunce but i cant figure out how to use grease monkey in Google Chrome for my KOC scripts?!? (kingdoms of camelot)
