  • Christmas Experiments: Advent Calendar of Open Web Technologies

I don’t know how I could have missed this great project during the last two years. Invented in November of 2012, this project has grown to become a more than noteworthy exhibition of what open web technologies are able to do today, when used by skilled people. Christmas Experiments is not only an impressive collection of 24 outstanding works but also the best argument for lifelong learning. • World of Design No. 2: New Zealand

We are accustomed to believe that web design trends as well as their ardent supporters and followers tend to accumulate in the northern hemisphere: Europe, UK, America traditionally are the center of all that is happening. But what about others, extremely remote, pristine, almost unspoiled parts of the world, such as New Zealand. Is it an active and equal participant of the mainstreams? As it turns out, yes it is. • Thanks: Anders Norén Develops Picture-perfect and Free WordPress Themes

Sometimes, while rambling the web, you stumble upon real gems. That’s what just happened to me. It was by pure coincidence that I found the website of Anders Norén. Anders Norén, among other things, develops WordPress themes. These are not only mostly completely free, but also picture-perfect. You can grab them from WordPress.org. If you are into the WordPress theme universe, you already know that the majority of free themes is plain disappointing. They are designed and even more so coded in a half-assed attempt to get some short-dated attention. Others may be good, yet batter you with a plethora of mostly superfluous functions – the jack of all trades approach. Neither of these is Anders Norén’s take. He cares for great contemporary design, outstanding typography and clean code. This is reason enough to introduce you to his works…

And also just as important is that the lasting impression is one that accurately portrays the brand along with the product’s unique features and, more importantly, benefits.
